Connect with others who have been there.
Support groups can offer reassurance, insight and connection during what may feel like an isolating time. Whether you’re living with pancreatic cancer, a carer, or navigating grief, there are options to help you feel supported in person, over the phone, or online.
Why join a support group?
Talking to others who’ve had similar experiences can provide comfort and clarity. Some people find they can speak more freely in a group setting, sharing feelings and questions they might not feel comfortable raising with friends or family.
There are different types of support groups, including:
- Peer-led groups organised by participants
- Professionally facilitated groups led by trained staff
- Informational groups focused on education and resources
Benefits of joining a support group
- Feeling less alone and more understood
- Easier expression of emotions
- Insight into the cancer journey and what to expect
- Shared advice on treatment, side effects and practical issues like work
- Support in coping with uncertainty or fear
- A sense of structure and routine
- New friendships and social connection
There are several ways you can connect with others to share support and information. Below are some of the services available; however we also recommend speaking with your healthcare team about finding cancer support groups in your area.
