This Privacy Policy sets out our practices in relation to the collection, use, storage and disclosure of personal information.

Types of personal information we collect
We collect personal information from you that is necessary for us to perform our services, functions or activities. Personal information includes any information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual that is reasonably identifiable, notwithstanding whether or not that information or opinion is true or is recorded in a material form. If you do not provide this information, we may not be able to provide some or all of our services to you.

When you apply for a position with us we may collect the following information which may contain sensitive information:
- employment/volunteering/working history;

- criminal records.
When you use our Family History Checker tool, we may collect anonymously the following sensitive information:
- health information about you or your family members; and
- genetic information about you or your family members that is not otherwise health information.

Why we collect personal information
We rely on financial support from the public to provide funding for cancer research and to provide support, awareness and advocacy services to patients and carers.
We may collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information for the following purposes:
- to communicate with you about our organisation, our activities, and our services;
- to provide information requested by you;
- to enable you to access and use our website and online services, including applications for funding, the Family History Checker Tool and the Remember September App;
- to operate, protect, improve and optimise our website, services, business and your experience, such as to perform analytics, conduct research and for advertising and marketing;
- to let you know the ways in which you may support us or make a donation;
- to raise funds;
- to carry out fundraising and awareness activities;
- to provide you with a tax receipt at tax time;
- for our general business operations;
- to enable you to apply for a position (as a volunteer or employee) with us; and
- to comply with our legal obligations.
Direct marketing
If your contact details appear on our donor or fundraising databases, we may use your personal information to send you information about Pankind that may be of interest to you. Our communications may take the form of emails, SMS, mail or other forms of communication, and will comply with requirements of the Spam Act 2003 (Cth), the Do Not Call Register and the Privacy Act.
If you do not wish to receive this information you can opt-out at any time by contacting us using the information at the end of this Privacy Policy or by using the opt-out facilities provided in our communications (such as an unsubscribe link).
How we collect personal information
We collect personal information in many different ways, including from you directly and from third parties. We collect information when you interact with us, including through sources such as in-memoriam donation envelopes, appeal responses, funding applications and from those who send in a donation with their personal details.
We collect sensitive information from you through your use of the Family History Checker tool for the purposes of assessing your inherited risk of developing pancreatic cancer.
To whom we disclose your personal information
We may disclose your personal information to third parties for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, and this may include disclosures to:
- our employees and volunteers;
- third party suppliers and their employees, contractors and agents, such as other organisations who we engage to support our services or activities, in particular: website infrastructure and hosting services, data storage and archiving services, website analytics, performance monitoring and reporting, distribution of service updates, administration of user experience surveys, and IT support services;
- specific third parties authorised by you to receive information held by us, including professional payment systems operators (including merchants receiving card payments);
- professional advisers, dealers and agents; and
- government agencies, regulatory bodies and law enforcement agencies, or as required, authorised or permitted by law.
The disclosures referred to above may include disclosure to third parties to the extent necessary for them to perform their duties to us. Apart from the disclosures listed above, PanKind does not licence, sell or otherwise share its donor information with any other organisation under any circumstances, unless otherwise notified to you.
Disclosure of personal information outside Australia
We may disclose personal information outside of Australia:
- in order to store or support storage so that we can provide continuity of service to you;
- in order to support the services we provide through our service providers who may be located outside Australia; and
- where we are legally required to do so.
Security of your personal information
We may hold your personal information in either electronic or paper form. We regard the security of your personal information as a priority and take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference and loss, as well as unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, and we use several physical, administrative, personnel and technical measures to protect your personal information. - taking appropriate security measures to protect electronic materials (for example, by using end-to-end encryption or multi-factor authentication) and paper materials and requiring our service providers to do the same under service contracts and confidentiality agreements.
- engaging with service providers that demonstrate compliance with international regulations on cyber security.
- ensuring only people who need to use your personal information have access to it, and that our staff, volunteers and contractors understand how to use personal information responsibly and keep it safe.
- taking reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify personal information when we no longer need it; and

We may collect personal information about you through the use of cookies when you access and use our websites. Remember September App Privacy Practices
The Remember September app, developed in collaboration with our trusted partners Funraisin and Made with Ed, supports our fundraising and awareness efforts. This app collects certain information to improve functionality, support user engagement, and enhance your experience. It may send push notifications to provide important updates and reminders. The app uses background location tracking to monitor start and end points of activity sessions, with this data visible only to the individual user. It may also collect activity and health-related data—such as distance, time, steps, calories burned, and wheelchair pushes—when connected with HealthKit or similar services. Non-personal information is collected to support app performance improvements. While users can update their name within the app, all other personal details are managed through our website. For transparency and security, your data is handled with care and in accordance with Australian privacy legislation and our Privacy Policy.
Accessing, correcting or deleting your personal information
You have the right to access, correct and delete the personal information we hold about you. We will generally provide you with access to your personal information (subject to some exceptions permitted by law) but may charge an access fee to cover the cost of retrieving the information and supplying it to you.
If you would like access to the information we hold about you, if your details change or if you believe that your personal information held by us is inaccurate or out of date, please contact us on the contact details at the end of this Privacy Policy.
