Alan McArthur
Chair
Alan is the current Chair of Pankind. He, like so many, has been witness to the suffering of friends and family due to pancreatic cancer. Commencing his career in Canberra, Alan has held positions as Managing Partner and CEO of some of the largest law firms in Australia and New Zealand. Amongst various other positions, he was Chair of the General Practice Section of the Law Council of Australia.

Prof. Chris Baggoley AO
Deputy Chair
After first completing a degree in Veterinary Science with 1st Class Honours, Prof. Baggoley enrolled in the Flinders postgraduate medical program, deciding that his future lay in human health care. He went on to hold positions as Director of Emergency Medicine at both the Flinders Medical Centre and Royal Adelaide Hospital, Chief Medical Officer of South Australia and Chief Executive of the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care. He was Chief Medical Officer of Australia between 2011 and 2016 and contributed to the international response to several global epidemics through his work on the World Health Organisation’s International Health Regulations Emergency Committee. Prof. Baggoley holds Fellowships of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators and the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences. He received an Order of Australia in the 2013 Queen's Birthday Honours List for distinguished service to medicine, medical administration and public health care, and to education. He currently sits on 3 boards and resides in South Australia. Chris was diagnosed with, and treated for, pancreatic cancer in 2019.

Luke Dunkerley
Director
Recognised as one of Australia’s leading marketers, Luke Dunkerley began his career as an advertising copywriter at Leo Burnett. In 2002 he became Managing Director of M&C Saatchi Retail, heading up the Woolworths account, where he first worked with Avner. Luke went on to be Managing Director of The Campaign Palace and then STW Communications. In 2007 Luke returned to retail to lead Woolworths supermarkets as their General Manager of Marketing. Luke has been a key and active advisor since inception and joined the Board in May 2015.

Warwick White
Director
Warwick is the Executive Chairman Co Operative Supermarkets of Australia and is the former Managing Director, Australasia for Coca-Cola Amatil. Warwick lost a close friend and mentor to pancreatic cancer in the months after Avner died. This tragedy has driven his passion to improve outcomes for those affected by the disease. Warwick joined the board in February 2012.

Rohan Jeffs
Director
Rohan is a lawyer with over 35 years of experience in major listed Australian companies in the areas of corporate and commercial law as well as in senior corporate roles responsible for governance, risk and compliance; human relations; procurement; industrial relations; superannuation; government, media and corporate relations. Within his corporate career, Rohan spent 10 years as General Counsel of an Australian listed oil and gas exploration, production and marketing company and over 20 years at Woolworths Ltd in senior executive roles. Until recently Rohan has held non-executive Directorships with Retail Employees Superannuation Pty Limited (REST), Super Investment Management Pty Limited and the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust and is a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia. Rohan is a former Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Queensland.

Ralph Kemmler
Director
Ralph is the Director of Property for Woolworths, a qualified Civil Engineer (Be Civil Hon), winner of the University Medal (University of Technology) with extensive experience in real estate, strategy and leadership. Over the last decade Ralph has also been actively involved in Key Fundraising Organisations such as the Woolworths / Tour de Cure Partnership and the Wish You Were Here team that has trekked Kokoda and Base Camp Everest raising funds, awareness and hope for those with Pancreatic Cancer. Ralph joined the Board in August 2020.

Marissa Rossi
Director
Marissa is a Director of Listed Equities at Future Fund, Australia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund. Her investment career in equity funds management spans more than 20 years, including extensive experience as a Portfolio Manager, 12 years as UBS’ Head of Research and as Head of Sustainable Investment. Marissa possesses a deep technical understanding of ESG best practice and responsible investing principles. She is a CFA Charterholder, has a B.Com (with Distinction) and LLB (First Class Honours) from the University of Queensland. Marissa’s family became involved with the Foundation when her mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2014. Marissa joined the Board in September 2020.

Michelle Stewart
Chief Executive Officer and Director
Michelle joined Pankind as CEO in 2019, bringing expertise in medical research funding, international clinical trials, digital health, and global health advocacy. She is a member of the World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition Steering Committee and a fellow of the Milken Institute FasterCure Leaderslink program.
Michelle has a strong passion for building organisations and leading teams to deliver impact and is deeply committed to improving outcomes for people diagnosed with poor prognosis cancers.
Previously, she helped make brain cancer a national health priority as Head of Research Strategy and later CEO at a leading brain cancer organisation.
Michelle has served on advisory groups such as Cancer Australia’s Australian Brain Cancer Mission, academic committees and global consortia contributing to clinical research strategy, patient engagement, and fundraising. She holds a Bachelor of Advanced Science and a Master of Public Health from The University of Sydney and is a graduate of the McKinsey Executive Leadership Program, Oxford Saïd Business School, and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Peter Flanagan
Director
Peter is an experienced Managing Director/CEO with a 30-year track record of successfully managing national and multinational businesses. These businesses include Manufacturing, Engineering, Importing and Distribution, Packaging, Agriculture, Logistics, Financial Services and Media. Over the past 20 years, Peter has held various non-executive Directorships. Recently, he resigned as a Director from Campus Living Funds Management Pty Ltd and Prescription Agriculture Pty Ltd but is still a Director of a Harvard University Australian Investment. Peter holds a B.Sc. (Ed) from Melbourne University and a MBA from RMIT.

Dan Shields
Director
Dan is globally recognised as a leader in threat management, risk and governance, advising top-level executive teams and Boards in risk management and loss minimisation; as well as conducting regular public speaking engagements in areas such as crisis management and cyber resilience. Dan founded RiskLogic in 2005, building it up to become the region’s largest provider of risk and resilience services. He stepped away from his role as CEO in December 2021 to lead Sention, which is a provider of corporate threat intelligence solutions. Career highlights include over 20 years’ experience in developing and implementing programs to improve the risk and governance of major organisations across 35+ industry sectors globally. Prior to that, Dan was a professional firefighter with NSW Fire and Rescue. His combination of leadership and business experience, as well his un-paralleled credentials in risk and governance positions him to support an organisation to prosper; whilst helping to safeguard their strategic shareholder assets.
