Pancreatic Cancer is the 8th most common cancer in Australia. In 2025, it is estimated that 4,825 people were diagnosed.

The incidence of pancreatic cancer has more than doubled in the last 20 years.

Chance of surviving at least 5 years

In 2017-2021, individuals diagnosed with pancreatic cancer had a 13.5% chance of surviving for five years. This is only a 0.5% increase since 2012-2016. 

Only 3 out of 10 people (34%) will survive one year after diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

Mortality

In 2025, it is estimated that 4,039 people may die from pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic cancer is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in Australia in 2024.
